School District 214 and John Hersey High School along with JHHS Stallion Players are honoring Sgt. Jason Smith through Steps2Hope. Not only are they honoring his service, courage and dedication to our country, they are helping raise donations to build the war hero a new home.

On July 25, 2012, while serving in Afghanistan, Sgt Jason Smith stepped on a pressure plate IED and sustained multiple injuries plus the loss of his legs. He has been waging a new battle ever since; one of his health, learning to walk again and to create a new future for himself. Jason is now back in school to learn new skills in order to provide for his new family. For more information about Jason's story

Life is challenging for everyone, but it can be especially challenging for a returning soldier. Hats off to JHHS and the Stallions Players helping to support this special cause.

Attend tonight's JHHS basketball game vs. Prospect High School and support the special shootout contest. All proceeds will go to the Jason Smith Fundraiser. Or donate by text. Text S2H to: 88588.
