Dear Stallions Families:
It is with sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of the Spring/Summer 2020 Rugby Illinois competitive seasons. As much as we all wanted the season to take place, the depth and risk of Covid 19 put USA Rugby, Rugby Illinois and the Stallions management teams in a position where no other choice was acceptable. It is our hope that the club can embark on some form of normalcy as soon as possible.
We expect and understand that member families may have a concern regarding some relief from the Stallions dues expense they have incurred. As a not-for-profit organization with a small member and sponsorship base, this situation is troublesome.
Despite not having played any matches, the club has incurred expenses for gym/field rental and equipment procurement for which no refund is possible. Further, with no season on the horizon, we could not in good conscience go to our sponsors for their usual generous donations.
After a careful financial analysis, our management team has determined that the club is able to provide a rebate of Spring dues of 50%. High school players will be refunded $125 and middle school players $75. Each family that has paid their Spring dues, upon request, qualifies for this refund.
If all dues paying members request this refund, this will leave the club with a very small financial cushion with which we can prepare and rebuild for 2021. Therefore, we would like to offer all members the following options:
- Defer your refund and apply it to 2021 dues.
- Donate your refund back to the club to build a great 2021.
- Request the 50% Spring 2020 Stallions dues refund.
ALL correspondence on these matters will be handled confidentially. To expedite this process, please go to the following link to provide us with your decision.
We request that you complete this task by June 15th. Those that paid via PayPal will be issued their refund in this manner and those who paid by check or cash will be issued a refund check.
At the time we ended club activities on March 12th, we had not yet collected dues from all participating players. If your family falls into this category, we respectfully request that you consider some level of donation, via the purchase of additional raffle tickets, to help make up this deficit. FYI, at this point in time, the raffle is postponed to July 4th.
The dues that you paid to Rugby Illinois went to two organizations; USA Rugby and Rugby Illinois. The Rugby Illinois component of that fee is $20 and a refund will be offered to participants from this organization separately. USA Rugby filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March. At this time, no further information from this organization is available.
