Head Coach Paul

Paul Bergman’s rugby career started as an underclassman at NIU. After graduation he played for 10 years with the Chicago Lions Rugby Club and was the recipient of the Rookie of the Year and Lowry Lion awards. In addition, Paul earned all-star selection to Chicago area and Midwest select sides. He toured England, Ireland and South Africa with the Lions and played one season under World Cup champion coach Kitch Christie (South Africa). Paul went on to coach the Chicago Lions, Chicago Blaze, Chicago Area Select Side and Midwest Select Side (National Champion in 2006). Paul is a Certified 300 Level Coach by USA Rugby.

Paul currently works in cardiac diagnostic testing and rehabilitation. He is also a registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Paul holds a B.S. in Physical/Health Education from Northern Illinois University and an M.S. in Exercise Physiology from Northeastern Illinois University.

Paul resides in Arlington Heights with wife Lana.

The Arlington Stallions organization is delighted to have the proactive support of Athletico Physical Therapy. Not only are they the official physical therapy partner to each of Chicago’s professional sports teams, they’re also committed to making sure a certified athletic trainer is in attendance at every Stallions’ competitive match. Athletico’s Certified Athletic Trainers prepare our rugby athletes and provide coverage throughout the entire match – keeping them healthy and able to do what they do best.

Dr. Brian Moss

Sports Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Moss specializes in sports related injury and surgery. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Michigan State University. Following residency, he fulfilled a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine in San Diego, Ca, where he participated in the care of a variety of elite athletes including; NFL San Diego Chargers, U.S. Men's 7s Rugby, and ESPN X-Games among many others. Dr. Moss enjoys working with athletes of all ages and abilities. He enjoys the excitement of live game coverage, in addition to the clinic and surgical settings.

Dr. Moss practices at Orthopedic Associates in Arlington Heights along with Dr. Tom Kim and Dr. Ed Sladek. If he is not on the Stallions' Sidelines, you may reach him at 847-593-5511.

Dr. Matthew Monson

Matthew Monson

Dr. Monson began his Rugby career while in the Marine Reserve at the age of 18. While attending the University of Iowa he played Rugby and was selected to the All Marine team in 2003. He played for a Combined Service Team on two international tours in 2004 and 2006. Matthew accepted a scholarship to play Rugby at Palmer College from 2004-2008 where he received a doctorate in chiropractic. He continued playing Rugby on a tour to Ireland in 2009, and went into semi-retirement from playing in 2010.

Dr. Monson currently operates his own practice, Hawkeye Chiropractic in Arlington Heights and enjoys running marathons, traveling and coaching the sport of Rugby.
