The Stallions Coaching staff is pleased to announce the creation of the Stallions Leadership Academy. After evaluation of our results over the last three years of play (Tier One, Illinois' highest level of competition), it was determined that one of the foundations of our 2014 success was the collective leadership that our high school seniors provided.
In order to be sure we maintain the level of maturity and sophistication in our team approach from year-to-year, we thought it would be important to periodically bring our high school players together to learn and discuss the mental and emotional components of successful athetic teams.
In July, we kicked off the program with a meeting led by notable Stallions former players and 2014 seniors who discussed the close and positive relationships that grow from being a Stallion.
On Monday, September 8th, our guest speaker will be Tristan Lewis. Mr. Lewis is cureently the Manager of the USA National Rugby Team, was the General Manager of the 2006 National All-Star Champion Midwest Thunderbirds and before coming to the US, played for the famous London Welsh Rugby Club, which many experts believed, at the time was the finest rugby club in the world. He will be speaking from his vast experience about the individual and team traits that are characteristic of success as well as failure. The program will take place in the Arlington Heights Memorial Library's Hendrickson Room from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
The Academy will meet approximately every six weeks for an hour. The Stallions Coaching Staff has received commitment from a variety of notable and successful rugby people that will share important ideas for our players to contemplate as they progress through their years as Stallions and young adults. All family members of Stallions' players are welcome to attend.
