To All High School Stallions Players:
I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday. As you know, from this point on, things are going to happen very fast for us. Sign-Up Day is less than two weeks away and the Christmas/New Year Holidays will happen right after that. Before you know it, indoor training will be starting on January 18th.
It looks like our indoor training period will consist of one session per week, on Sundays from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Therefore, if we are to play the style we want to and be successful, you need to find a way to train on your own. Those of you playing a winter sport should be okay. Those of you who are not need to be more creative and diligent in finding ways to train so that our pace of play is faster than any of our opponents.
The Camelot Park indoor track is a great resource for us. We found that we just cannot go there as a large group. So find ways to go in groups of two or three, a couple of times a week, and be very careful that you are not creating a dangerous situation for anyone else who might be using that facility. Progress your workouts from easy to hard. That will train your heart, lungs and muscles to adapt in a way that will translate to success on the rugby field.
And make sure that you are doing your core work, push-ups and single leg squats on as close to a daily basis as you can.
